Orange Beach, Alabama, our camp increased from last year, it almost doubled. God met with us a great way the first night. We had 65 come to Christ. God stirred several churches, things that we prayed for that first night. It was great. The only problem with Orange Beach, the red flag was out. We talked about that. The worship was great. The condos were good. The churches had great enthusiasm. We had a great week. A yellow flag came out, it means caution, so we didn’t go in. The next day was also a yellow flag. On the last day we made the decision to go in on the yellow flag, no one died or drowned. We had a great time, got some good sun. We talked about red flags at Orange Beach. I hope you’re still reading through Proverbs and that you won’t ignore the red flags in your life and that the red flags are to help and protect you. Let God’s word be an umbrella in your life. I hope you have a great summer! Be wise, live wise. He says this… “Those who follow wisdom, that he will be faithful to protect them.” Follow wisdom stay in step with God.
Texas Wild Week 1 was our biggest camp. We had 900. On the first night we had over 200 decisions. People realized they were lost and without a savior. If you were one of those I hope you went back and were baptized. Get involved with your church and youth group. Alto Frio posed a different red flag for us. I’m not sure if it’s because of the movie Evan Almighty, but it’s rained it seems like 40 days and 40 nights. I was waiting for God to tell us to build an ark. Roads were closed and water rose to our cabines. We weren’t able to get into the river and be in intertubes. Despite that we saw over 250 total decisions. 30 came forward on the Lord’s Supper night. We have endured the rain. Like I’ve told the other camps, don’t ignore the red flags they are to help you. Listen to wisdom! Be faithful. God will protect you. Have a great summer, let God’s word be your umbrella, your lamp and your light! See ya next year in ’08.
Week #3 – It’s our last Wild Week. I think we saw 65 decisions the first night, I think we’ve had about 15 others since then. Again it’s rained all week. The river’s been shut down. This was a different camp, there just seems to be a lot of hurting kids and adults. We’ve seen some real breakthroughs. One incredible testimony is a grandfather here with his church, he may be the pastor, came up to me and said his granddaughter was saved Tuesday night and during the Lord’s Supper his grandson was saved. Let me backtrack, in Texas Wild Week 1 there was a counselor, probably in his late 40’s who was saved at Alto Frio as a teenager, last week his son was saved at the same camp. Pretty incredible! We’ve fought through the rain. As I use someone eles’s fingers to blog, the sun has broke through, and today 20-23 churches got in the river. We are very excited, they are having a great time! We had a little fireworks show thanks to some of our staff and leaderhip. We had about a half our great fireworks show. This week some people celebrated their freedom by coming to Christ. I hope you have a great summer, don’t ignore the red flags. It’s trying to protect you. Everyone reading this, I’m excited about Wild Week ’08, we have some great changes, Kacy will be back and I’ll be. Myself and Harold and Kacy and Marnie are moving on to further God’s kingdom. Pray for us as we make plans for ’08 for doors to open. Pray for numbers to go up next year that we’d be better stewards with our time, publicity and God’s money. Just pray for God to give us direction next year and I hope we see you at one of the Wild Week’s in ’08. Just remember proverbs 1:7 says “fear of the Lord is the beginning of understanding.” Don’t forget to fear the Lord is to acknowledge and recognize who God is. Have a great summer and we’ll see you next year!
